City of Flagstaff announce proposed residency requirement changes meeting on Nov. 6

FLAGSTAFF — Flagstaff’s City Council will consider a change to the city’s employee handbook at the Nov. 6, 2018 meeting at 4:30 p.m. The proposed changes would include moving away from the current prescribed area for residency to the Arizona state border.

Under these changes, all emergency service personnel need to be able to arrive to work within one hour of being notified, except Flagstaff fire Department personnel. The city leadership team extended this option to all city divisions. The fire department is exempt from the one-hour response time given the city’s mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire departments in lieu of an employee recall. Additionally, fire personnel report to work five times per month versus the four to five times per week as needed in the other operational areas.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and provide comment.
