Coconino County Parks and Recreation is updating its Master Plan and we want to hear from you! The Parks and Recreation Master Plan will shape the future of Coconino County’s parks, recreation, trails, and open spaces by having community members identify each community’s needs, goals, and priorities. Parks, recreation, and open space objectives change over time. By identifying existing conditions, needs, and future resources, the master plan will craft a shared vision in Coconino County.
Forest Health Tour
As part of the 2018 Flagstaff Festival of Science, we are hosting a tour this Saturday at 3 p.m. of the Fort Tuthill Thinning Project. Explore the Fort Tuthill Thinning Project, a 330-acre effort to increase forest health, improve public safety and reduce wildfire risk. Learn about the impacts of fire on forest ecosystems and what fire scars tell us. Meet at the forest resiliency interpretive sign north of the Fort Tuthill Bike Park, next to the NAU Ecological Restoration Institute’s demonstration area.

Bike Park Construction
There’s construction happening at the Fort Tuthill Bike Park! Coconino County Parks & Recreation was awarded a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant from Arizona State Parks and Trails, and part of the grant is for building trails and features at the Bike Park. Construction began August 27 and we anticipate it continuing this fall. Check out the Phase 3 Concept Plan on our website. The three groups that built Phase 1 and 2 of the Bike Park, Flagstaff Biking OrganizationAmerican Conservation Experienceand FlowRide Concepts, are back to build this next phase.
