Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe to be celebrated with procession, luminaries, Mariachi Mass, community potluck on Dec. 11 & 12

Dec. 11 and 12FLAGSTAFF — The Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe to be celebrated with a procession, luminaries, a Mariachi Mass and community potluck on Dec. 11 & 12 in Flagstaff.

The Guadalupanas, with Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces and San Francisco de Assis Parish will present the Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe celebration on both days.

Festivities begin with a procession at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 224 S. Kendrick St. to San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, 1600 E. Route 66.

After a brief stop for a hot food and drink potluck at the Flagstaff Fire Department Station No. 2, the procession will proceed up the hill along luminaria-lined Ponderosa Parkway to San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church for a Mass with the Mariachi Mexico Antigua youth group at 7 p.m. followed by a play by youth on the appearance to Juan Diego of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Festivities will begin the next day at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 with a Rosary, Mananitas at 6:30, Mass at 7 followed by Café y pan at the luminaria-encircled Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Activities will conclude with a community potluck at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
