	NAU celebrates Black History Month Throughout the month of February, the NAU community is invited to a variety of virtual events that celebrate and recognize the achievements and vital role of African Americans in U.S. history.
	Northern Arizona University receives national innovation award for its virtual support services This award recognizes NAU’s exemplary work providing virtual support to students, both before and during the pandemic. Funds from the award will go toward new initiatives, programs and services.
	NAU’s PMI to test Allarity Therapeutics drug as potential therapy for new, highly infectious Coronavirus Variant B117 The testing plan for the “British variant” is based on findings of pre-clinical tests showing stenoparib blocks infection and the replication of SARS-CoV-2, as recently published in peer-reviewed journal mBio.
	The struggles of navigating a pandemic blind and the importance of sociability Nearly a year into the pandemic, most people have adapted to this new world, but people with disabilities are having an especially hard time. Dorianne Pollack of Disability Services writes about the challenges of being visually impaired while navigating physical distancing, non-ADA compliant signs and people who are on edge.
	NAU doctoral student leads paleoclimate study of precipitation and sea ice in Arctic Alaska Ellie Broadman’s findings demonstrate the interconnectedness of the Arctic and North Pacific oceans on multimillennial timescales, which is consistent with future projections of less sea ice and more precipitation in Arctic Alaska.
