Coconino County Elections Department recognizes Help America Vote Day to inspire civic engagement

COCONINO COUNTY — As the 2026 election season is underway, the Coconino County Elections Department is recognizing Help America Vote Day on Jan. 27.

Help America Vote Day aims to inspire greater civic engagement and volunteerism, and help ensure safe, secure, accurate and accessible elections in Coconino County in 2026 and beyond. This is also an opportunity to share election and voting information from trusted sources like the Coconino County Elections Department.

“Election workers are an integral part of the election process. Signing up is one of the most meaningful ways that we as Americans can do our part to serve our communities,” said Elections Director, Eslir Musta. “In 2026, we are anticipating hiring 500 election workers across the county. We are excited to recognize Help America Vote Day to kick-off our recruitment efforts and encourage county residents to be the face of elections in our communities and sign up to be an election worker today.”

Specific duties vary depending on position, but include setting up and preparing polling locations, welcoming voters, verifying voter registrations and issuing ballots. Election workers also help ensure voters understand the voting process by demonstrating how to use voting equipment and explaining voting procedures. By serving, election workers can earn up to $295 while playing a pivotal role in protecting the integrity of our democracy and ensuring every eligible voter can cast their ballot.
