The Music: What to Expect
|
The concert begins with Maxime Goulet’s Symphonic Chocolates, an enveloping suite in four movements, each evoking a rich chocolate flavor.
Shane Werts then takes center stage in Vaughan Williams’s Concerto for Oboe and Strings, filled with nostalgic harmonies, soaring melodic lines, and a showcase of true virtuosity on the instrument.
The concert ends with Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor—one of only two symphonies Mozart composed in a minor key, and among his most dramatic works. This performance marks the first time in 13 years that Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra has presented a Mozart symphony on stage.
