Get ready to create and explore with Flagstaff’s premier arts educators at Coconino Center for the Arts!
CCA is thrilled to offer Creative Camps, a way for children ages 5-11 to immerse themselves in the arts, with professional arts educators guiding their experience.
2026 Camp Season
Week 1: Drawing & Painting June 1 – 5. Campers explore drawing and painting, then dive into printmaking by creating designs for a t-shirt or tote bag. We’ll experiment with block printing, starting the project early in the week so everyone leaves with a wearable artwork.
Week 2: Sculpture June 8 – 12. This week is all about thinking in three dimensions. Campers will create Calder-style mobiles, wire sculptures, tin-foil figures, paper sculptures, and bead sun catchers. We’ll explore many approaches to sculpture, including a small introduction to clay, highlighting the wide world of 3D art.
Week 3: Drawing & Painting June 15 – 19. Artists will experiment with mandalas, acrylic painting on canvas, and large, expressive paintings on poster board. We’ll work on still life drawings, try junk journaling, and collaborate on group murals by splitting into teams for big, shared creative projects.
Week 4: Fiber Arts June 22 – 26. Campers are introduced to fiber arts like weaving, crochet, and embroidery. We’ll experiment with yarn dyeing (using pots and hot plates), learn from visiting fiber artists, and try tools like a Dine weaver for hands-on exploration of texture, color, and fiber techniques.
Creative Camps are held onsite and outdoors at Coconino Center for the Arts, your community art space.
