Apply for a Beautification in Action Grant
|

The City of Flagstaff invites artists, community members and groups, schools, and local businesses to apply for a Beautification in Action (BIA) grant to enliven our community’s public spaces. Projects can take the form of community gardens, neighborhood paths, benches, sculptures, murals, and more. Priority will be given to community-initiated projects that provide a lasting impact—fostering cultural connections, strengthening neighborhood awareness and identity, and deepening how residents and visitors interact with the built environment. All projects must be publicly and visually accessible. Up to $8,000 is available per project.

Design for the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library Bookmobile
|

The City of Flagstaff announces a public art opportunity for artists, graphic designers, and illustrators to create a design for the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library Bookmobile. This project is an opportunity to enhance the visual landscape by using the bookmobile as a canvas for meaningful and relevant visual expression. Artists are encouraged to use a variety of media, including digital imagery, painting, drawing, photography, collage, etc. to develop their proposed designs that will be transferred to vinyl wraps. The artist whose design proposal is chosen will receive a payment of $4,000.

Spring 2026 Artist Residency at
Oracle State Park

Immerse yourself in Arizona’s stunning landscapes and create art that inspires environmental appreciation and community connection. The Arizona State Parks Artist Residency Program, a collaboration between Arizona State Parks and Trails (ASPT) and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, offers Arizona-based artists a unique opportunity to explore, create, and engage while encouraging the preservation and appreciation of Arizona’s unique natural and cultural heritage. In addition to accommodations, the resident artist will receive a $5,000 artist stipend and $1,000 reimbursable materials budget.
Residency: April 25-May 10, 2026

Vision & Sound Symposium: An African American Experience 2026
|

Join the Sedona Arts Center and the ASU Center for the Study of Race and Democracy for a powerful 2026 Vision & Sound Symposium. This year’s keynote speaker is Brett Cook, a deeply accomplished and insightful artist who grapples with issues of place, presence, and loss in American society and African American communities. Acclaimed choreographer and ASU Institute Professor Liz Lerman and ASU colleague Austin Gamble will co-lead the Critical Response Process session that is an integral part of the symposium. Arizona-based Vision & Sound artists will discuss their work and engage with audiences in compelling gallery talks.
This event is presented in conjunction with Vision & Sound: An African American Experience, programmed across Arizona through March.
