Mapping the Rio de Flag 2.0

Help create Flagstaff’s first-ever map of riparian plants!

Last fall, we began to map the the willows, sedges, box-elders, and cottonwoods that provide a shady, cool habitat for rare members of the Flagstaff community–amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and invertebrates.

With the arrival of Spring, we can continue the project. Members of the team will work with renowned conservation biologist Dr. Paul Beier.

A Special Event Sponsored by the CatchFire Movement!

Join this first-ever teach-in on how Flagstaff’s local government works—and how it should work. Together, we’ll break down the basic checks and balances in our council‑manager form of government and what they mean for real people in real time.

We will:

  • Explain key terms like city charter, public policy, ordinance, resolution, and administrative directive using concrete, recent examples from local immigration‑enforcement debates.

  • Show how decisions actually move from idea to policy, and where residents can plug in along the way.

  • Help you become a more savvy citizen‑activist so you can exercise your rights more effectively and ask sharper, more strategic questions.

When more of us understand our local government, we are more powerful in organizing and advocating for the issues we care about.

RSVP is required to attend. To register here.
