One of F3’s board members was awarded a Flagstaff Sustainability Office neighborhood grant to remove invasive plants in the section of the Rio de Flag that runs along Thomas Elementary school and reseed with native flowers and grasses.
The second of three plant pull events is happening this Saturday from 9am – noon. Meet at the east entrance to Bushmaster Park.
In addition to the plant removal and reseeding, we will be providing education about invasive plants, a field guide to the worst offenders, and a paper yard waste bag to help you tidy up your own yard.
More information about the project can be found here:
This project will reduce wildfire risk; improve stream flow; increase species diversity; benefit birds, butterflies, and other wildlife; increase soil carbon sequestration; improve water quality; stabilize the bank of the drainage; and increase the beauty and usability of the area.
We hope you’ll join us for one or more of the remaining two events!
