Sedona Arts Center offers year-round classes and workshops designed to inspire artists of all experience levels. From painting, ceramics, jewelry making, and photography to mixed media and more, our programs are welcoming, hands-on, and taught by working artists in a supportive creative environment.

Whether you’re discovering a new passion or continuing to grow your skills, you’ll find opportunities to explore, create, and connect in the heart of Sedona. New ceramics classes begin in June, alongside a wide variety of upcoming workshops and studio experiences for adults, teens, and families.

Card Making: A Creative Aging Class
with Patricia Saxton
July 21 – August 18, 2026, Tuesdays, 10am-12pmCreativity, playfulness, and purpose join forces in this mixed media card-making class.

Try your hand at a different medium each week and give your creations a practical twist by applying them to your very own greeting cards. Come ready to experiment, get a little messy, make mistakes, discover wins, and create to your heart’s content using watercolors, acrylics, markers, pastels, found objects, and paper collage. Artistic prompts will be provided along with plenty of guidance and personal attention!

Ceramics Explorations: Wheel and Beyond

Explore the potter’s wheel, slab construction, extrusion, texture tools, and more while creating functional and decorative ceramics. With personalized instruction and opportunities for creative exploration, you’ll strengthen your technique, develop new skills, and turn your ideas into finished works of art.

Beginner to Confidence-Building Wheel Throwing

Designed to accommodate both true beginners and those with some wheel experience, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including centering clay, shaping forms, trimming, and pulling handles to create cylinders, bowls, mugs, and plates.

BEGINNER TO CONFIDENCE-BUILDING WHEEL THROWING

Stamp Making to Customize Your Clothing
(And Other Stuff!)
with Jen Myhre
August 1, 2026 – Saturday, 1–4:30pm

Come learn the basics of relief printing by carving your own stamps to decorate and personalize fabric and clothing. We’ll learn how to use carving tools, how to transfer images we want to carve onto soft blocks, and how to print our stamps onto both paper and fabric. We’ll also experience the meditative and visual power of repetition and pattern. You don’t need to have previous printmaking or drawing skills to enjoy this workshop! All of the carving and printing materials will be provided, but you should bring fabric items that you might want to print on, such as spare tote bags or tshirts (ideally nothing you’re too attached to, since these will be for practice!)

Watercolor and Ink Sketchbook

August 15, 2026 – Saturday, 10am–4pm

Watercolor is a popular, flexible medium, and suitable for anyone that would like to capture the beauty of their surroundings. In this workshop we will explore watercolor basics, using a journaling/sketchbook approach. We’ll cover the basics of composition, value, brushwork and color relationships, experiment with color mixing and ink drawing, and finish by working from photos to create sketchbook paintings that can stand on their own or serve as inspirational notes for later studio works. At the end of the workshop, you should have begun a sketchbook of your own that you can carry virtually anywhere, which will allow you to record your life, travels, and progress in this medium. Suitable for beginners and more experienced painters alike.

The Joy of Painting: A Bob Ross Class

August 26, 2026, Wednesday, 1-4pm

Tap into your inner artist and experience the joy of painting — Bob Ross style! In this fun, hands-on workshop, a Certified Ross Instructor will guide you step-by-step through creating your own landscape masterpiece using traditional Bob Ross wet-on-wet oil techniques. Learn how to paint happy little trees, soft clouds, and serene mountain scenes in just three hours.

All materials are included, and all skill levels are welcome — no experience needed! Ages 12 and up can participate with an adult, making this a perfect creative outing for families or friends. Come paint, relax, and discover just how happy art can be.

Wet Concrete Carving
with Elder Jones
August 28–30, 2026, Friday — SundayLearn to build forms, prepare sand mix concrete, sculpt and hand carve in the soft matrix in this wet-carved concrete workshop. No power tools or hammer and chisel are required. Students will be given a working understanding of Portland cement and the variety of possibilities the technique offers. Choose to make either a planter or sculpture of about 25 lbs. By the end of the carving day everyone will have completed their piece short of it having sit overnight to cure before handling.

Scholarships are an important part of Sedona Arts Center. It has a long history in providing students in need of financial assistance, the ability to hone their skills and creative talents. Art classes and workshops also allow an emotional break from daily life and offer social interaction with fellow lovers of art. We are proud to offer our scholarship program, with the help of The Kling Family Foundation, The Ceramics Scholarship Fund, and the Debbie Winslow Scholarship Fund, which allow us to continue this long standing opportunity.
