FLAGSTAFF, Ariz — The City of Flagstaff, through its Beautification, Arts & Sciences (BAS) program, is accepting applications for Beautification in Action (BIA) grants now through September 15, 2026, at 5 p.m. Grants of up to $8,000 are available for publicly visible and accessible projects that enhance and enliven the urban environment. Artists, community members and groups, schools and local businesses are encouraged to apply.
Beautification in Action projects can take many forms, from community gardens and neighborhood paths to benches, sculptures, murals and more. Priority will be given to community-initiated projects that create a lasting impact by fostering cultural connections, strengthening neighborhood awareness and identity, deepening how residents and visitors engage with the built environment.

“Supporting locally driven projects through the Beautification in Action grants is an important part of strengthening our community,” said Jana Weldon, Beautification, Arts & Sciences program manager. “These grants encourage creativity and community collaboration that supports Flagstaff’s one-of-a-kind character and vision.”
Recently completed projects include the Willow Bend Reflection and Activity Area, led by Melissa Eckstrom; the Sacred Waters Mural at Aloha Barbeque, created by Kristi Rauckis; and the Bushmaster Park Community Fruit Orchard at Bushmaster Park, led by Alexi Kimiatek.
BIA grants are funded by the City of Flagstaff’s Bed, Board and Beverage (BBB) tax. Eligible applicants are awarded through a competitive, biannual process every September and March.
