Young NightVisionaries: A NightVisions Youth Workshop with Erika Tsouras

Led by educator and artist Erika Tsouras, this interactive workshop encourages Young NightVisionaries to investigate the beauty of dark skies, light, color, and imagination while creating their own artworks. Come create a paper star lantern with your own unique story. No prior artistic experience is necessary. All materials will be provided!

Night Voices: Spoken Word and Poetry with Joshua Wiss

Celebrate the power of language, storytelling, and the night sky at an evening of spoken word and poetry hosted by Northern Arizona poet and performer Joshua Wiss. The program begins with a featured performance by Wiss, whose work explores place, identity, wonder, and the human experience. Following a brief musical intermission, audience members are invited to share their own original poetry, spoken word, stories, or reflections during an open mic session.
Inspired by the themes of NightVisions: AMBER, this community gathering welcomes both seasoned performers and first-time readers. Whether you come to listen, share, or simply enjoy an evening of creative expression, this event offers a space to connect through words and imagination.

A Galaxy in Diné Bizaad: Sǫʼtah Anaaʼ: Siih Náhásdlįį Film Screening with Geri Hogeva-Camarillo

In partnership with the Navajo Nation Museum, Coconino Center for the Arts presents a free public screening of Sǫʼtah Anaaʼ: Siih Náhásdlįį, the Navajo-language dub of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Presented as part of NightVisions: AMBER, the screening invites us to consider our relationship to the stars through a distinctly Diné lens—bringing together language, culture, imagination, and the night sky.

Dark Sky Quartet plays The Planets

British composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934) composed The Planets between 1914 and 1917. The orchestral suite premiered privately in 1918 and publicly in 1920 and was considered highly innovative at the time. Holst described it as “a series of mood pictures” influenced by astrological and mythological associations with seven planets of the solar system (the dwarf planet Pluto was not discovered until 1930).
The piece was first composed in an arrangement for two pianos and later orchestrated. It was recently arranged for both string and piano quartet performances by David Koerner for Dark Sky Quartet.
