In Oct. 2017, the Trump Administration recommended lifting the moratorium on new uranium claims in the Grand Canyon region and allowing uranium mining to occur.
A truly historic partnership has been created between the Havasupai Tribal Council and Flagstaff City Council,” said Havasupai Tribal Councilmember Ophelia Watahomigie-Corliss. “We appreciate the Council passing this Resolution in support of Public Lands. Together we are ensuring the safety of the Grand Canyon region for the future of all people and for generations to come. “
Flagstaff City Council and the Havasupai Tribal Council committed to oppose any efforts to rescind or weaken the withdrawal before its expiration.
