Apply for a Beautification in Action Grant

The City of Flagstaff invites artists, community members and groups, schools, and local businesses to apply for a Beautification in Action grant to enliven our community’s public spaces. Projects can take the form of community gardens, neighborhood paths, benches, sculptures, murals, and more. Priority will be given to community-initiated projects that provide a lasting impact—fostering cultural connections, strengthening neighborhood awareness and identity, and deepening how residents and visitors interact with the built environment. All projects must be publicly and visually accessible.

Up to $8,000 is available per project.

Honoring All Indigenous Code Talkers

Presented by the City of Flagstaff and the Indigenous Commission, this event honors the courage, service, and lasting legacy of Indigenous Code Talkers who played a vital role in protecting our nation. The celebratory day features an official proclamation and an informational message from Jeri DeCola, niece of the late Tonto Apache Code Talker Paul Burdette. Brandon Piestewa, son of the late Lori Piestewa, U.S. Army Soldier, will serve as the emcee and Young Professional Perspective Speaker. There will also be a special honoring of cultural shares by the Cha’Be’Tu Apache Sweethearts and the Cha’Be’Tu Apache Crown Dance Group. A sponsored light breakfast and lunch will be served to attendees.

Creative Flagstaff Arts & Science Project Grants Open August 10

Serving as the City of Flagstaff’s Lead Arts and Grants Agency, Creative Flagstaff allocates Bed, Board, and Beverage (BBB) tax revenues to non-profit organizations through Arts & Science grants as General Operating Support and Project Grants.⁠

This year, Project Grant applications will open on August 10, with a deadline of September 18. Applicants should note that these dates are earlier than last year’s deadlines.⁠ All first-time applicants are required to contact grant staff prior to applying for assistance and eligibility.

City of Chandler RFQ
Traffic Control Box Vinyl Wraps

The City of Chandler is looking for eight Arizona-based artists or artist teams to create digital artwork that will be printed and installed on metal traffic control boxes at locations across the city. While the City is primarily seeking digital illustrations, original work by photographers, painters, drawers, printmakers, and other 2D artists will also be considered. For this project, selected artists or artists teams will work with ASU students who are part of the Chandler Creative Arts Fellowship Program. The Fellows are tasked with collecting data on Chandler communities by immersing themselves in local cultural events and visiting cultural institutions. This research serves as the foundation for the selected artists’ final designs. Preference will be given to artists who have not completed a traffic control box for the City of Chandler in the past.

Apply for an Arizona Humanities
2026/2027 Mini Grant

Arizona Humanities supports innovative, community-based projects that use humanities disciplines to connect Arizonans to the cultures, peoples, and histories of the state and beyond. Projects should use the humanities to provide context, depth, and perspective to issues of significance to Arizonans. Eligible grant projects include but are not limited to: interactive lectures and discussions, exhibits, publications (must be published through a third-party, peer-review process), public broadcasts; online and/or radio, film documentaries, and discussions before or after performances.
