Flagstaff’s First Friday ArtWalk is a monthly celebration of creativity that brings downtown to life. Local galleries stay open late with special artist receptions and entertainment, so check out the gallery map to visit them all!

Join us for First Friday tomorrow, September 4, starting at 5pm! The 2026 ArtWalk season is generously underwritten by Dapper Dre, supporting Car-Free First Fridays with traffic closures on Aspen St. for art and performance activations.

Steamroller Printmaking

Join us for a community-powered printmaking experience by Flagstaff artists Jill Sans and Jen Myhre!

During ArtWalk on Sep 4 from 5–9pm, watch a steamroller become a giant printing press as the finished image comes to life on Aspen St.

This project is centered around the initiative to protect our public lands.Creating space for conversations about the continuous impacts on local communities and the immediate need for conservation.

Steamroller will be accompanied by Guinea Rumba West African Drum & Dance Troupe playing in Heritage Square from 5–5:30pm, then again from 6–6:30pm.⁠

This is an ARTx project, proudly presented by Creative Flagstaff.

Dancing Grannies

Flagstaff’s Dancin’ Grannies have been tap dancing throughout the region for three decades.

They will be joining us for ArtWalk for a performance in Heritage Square from 6:45–7:35pm.

Center 2 Center: Community Bike Ride

Every First Friday, join us at the Coconino Center for the Arts at 4pm for a Community Bike Ride!

Check out the NightVisions: AMBER exhibition at CCA, enjoy some FREE Timberline Ice Cream, then ride to Heritage Square at 5pm for Car-Free First Friday ArtWalk.

Be prepared with layers, lights, and helmets, and bring a friend for some two-wheeled fun. This is a party-pace, family-friendly, ride-at-your-own-risk community ride, and we hope to see you there!

Open Doors: Art in Action: A non-profit art gallery, located in the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. The current exhibit is titled Love Our Neighbor: Peace and Reconciliation and is about the Middle East conflict between Christians, Muslims and Jews. There will be refreshments starting at 6 pm and music by Ponderosa Raga Collective from 6-7 pm. At 7pm, the featured speakers are NAU Professor Emily Schneider and Fayez Dalia.

Gwendolyn Waring Arts: Gwendolyn Waring is a northern Arizona landscape painter inspired by the Colorado Plateau. Working primarily in oils, her art reflects the beauty and ecology of the Southwest. Visit her studio near the hospital to see paintings surrounded by a native garden, or view more at WaringArts.com.

Phoenix Avenue Gallery: September features Patricia Kearney presenting new glass artwork with aspens, Lisa Pearce with a watercolor of trees, and both Bill Anderson and Frederica Hall presenting new paintings. Michael Barbaric will be there with wooden sculptures, and Bryan Cooperrider’s bottle figures are still on display

Arizona Handmade Gallery: Artists and owners George Averbeck and Holly Gramm are both long time Flagstaff residents. Arizona Handmade Gallery is linked with Fire on the Mountain glass studio, creating both a showroom for George’s blown glass creations, as well as an outlet for over 60 Arizona artists to display and sell their handmade works.

Ari’s Art Exchange Paint-A-Pencil-Cup Workshop: Ari’s Art Exchange, Little Free Art Box Project, and The Fairy Godmother Boutique are joining forces once again to bring you another community crafting experience! For September’s project, create your own pencil cups! They have glass jars waiting to be painted and decorated using thier supplies and your imagination! Best part about it? You get to take it home when it’s done!
