NightVisions: AMBER is an international juried art exhibition that seeks to explore and celebrate our deep connections with the night. In its 9th iteration for 2026, this long-standing collaboration between Coconino Center for the Arts and the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition celebrates the 25th anniversary of Flagstaff’s designation as the world’s first International Dark Sky City. This special anniversary-year exhibition expands upon the established NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky concept with a focused thematic exploration of amber lighting, aligning with the critical role that amber spectrum lighting plays in Flagstaff’s dark-sky conservation.

Renowned artist jurors Stan Honda (NYC, New York), Paula Jean Rice (Flagstaff, AZ), and Janet Yazzie (Flagstaff, AZ and Diné Nation) select the artwork from an international pool of submissions. $2500 in jurors’ awards will be announced at the opening reception.

CCA’S COCONINO COUNTY-WIDE ARTIST REGISTRY

Coconino Center for the Arts (CCA) invites artists and creatives to share their work in a publicly accessible artist registry open to artists residing in Coconino County. CCA strives to connect and strengthen communities through increased access to and engagement in the arts. The registry is a resource and networking opportunity for Visual Artists, Performing Artists, Literary Artists, and Artisans to share their work and expertise in a free online registry accessible to other artists, venues, and organizations, housed on CCA’s website.

CCA’s mission is to provide space, offer resources, and inspire collaboration, presenting creative endeavors across the arts, sciences, and humanities. CCA cultivates a diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive environment, promoting creative expression and critical thought by reflecting the cultural diversity of our shared community.

Buffalo Park Water Tank Mural

Call to Artists for the Buffalo Park Water Tank Mural – Request for Qualifications. Five finalists will receive an honorarium of $5,000. The total budget for this project is up to $300,000 for fabrication and installation. Application Deadline: February 17, 2026, 5:00 pm (Arizona Time)

The City of Flagstaff (AZ) seeks Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) for an artist or artist team to design and execute a large-scale mural on a water tank at Buffalo Park. This highly visible project envisions an artwork that will become an emblematic feature of the park and the surrounding area. The mural could reflect Flagstaff, Northern Arizona, the current activity and/or history of the park, or the communities that utilize this natural and recreational resource among other ideas.

DESIGN THE BOOKMOBILE!

The City of Flagstaff announces a public art opportunity for artists, graphic designers, and illustrators to create a design for the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library Bookmobile. $4,000 is available for the selected design.

The new Bookmobile will be a 24’ Freightliner M2 chassis with a detached cab. This mobile library serves the vast area of Coconino County including stops around Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, the Navajo Nation, the Vermillion Cliffs, and a number of other locations.

The design should primarily cover the body of the vehicle; there will be no vinyl on the windows on the cab (represented in orange above, however the cab will be white). The design should primarily cover the body of the vehicle but can extend to the cab.

Artists are encouraged to use a variety of media, including digital imagery, painting, drawing, photography, collage, etc. to develop their proposed designs that will be transferred to vinyl wraps. The wrap should cover the rectangular body of the vehicle, except for the roof. Take note of physical interruptions in the design surface, such as doors and windows as shown in Attachment A, in planning your design.

Art should engage the community, increase visibility, and reflect the use of the bookmobile.

Artists of the selected design proposals will be required to submit their final design at full-scale in a high-resolution digital format such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or a combination. The selected design will be sent to the graphics vendor and may be modified in collaboration with the artist to better fit the vehicle. The City, using an independent vendor, will be responsible for the printing and installation of the Bookmobile vinyl wrap. Artist designs are to be printed on 3-M patented vinyl, which is easily maintained, is removable, and has been demonstrated as safe technology to use on vehicles like the Bookmobile. An external vendor will be responsible for the production and application of the vinyl wraps.

The artist whose design proposal is chosen will each receive a payment of $4,000 for the final designs that are printable at full scale in a digital format such as Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design or a combination. This includes unlimited, licensed use of that design for program and education purposes. Fabrication and installation of wraps are not part of the artist’s product
