Resiliency is developing the skills and power to overcome adversity and become stronger and healthier. CCCY is grateful to have partnered with the Flagstaff Family Food Center Sumer Reading Program to share resiliency information with youth. We asked 86 Flagstaff youth, “How are you resilient?” Here are their responses:
“I am resilient because I’m different at school. I have been insulted and bullied, and it hurts, but I can push all that to the side. Forgive and forget.”
-Mia, 13
” I make friends.”
” I am resilient because when I first started shooting my BB gun wasn’t even close. Now, I tear targets apart.”
COCONINO COUNTY — The Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth has created the free “Youth Mindfulness Challenge” short Webinar to empower youth and young adults with information to grow, heal, thrive and/or otherwise flourish.
We are also inviting youth to find ways to become a leader in our community.
Participants shared their reaction to the webinar:
“The course was great and I feel like I learned insightful information that will help me in the near future.”
“The down to earth and realness of the presenter.”
Page Unified classes will be back in session on August 10, 2020, but it will be a virtual beginning for the school year, according to new Page Unified School Superintendent, Larry Wallen. He says the current plan is to distribute computers to all students by the 10th with students then making a physical return to classes on August 17, 2020.
Due to the nature of the pandemic, current plans are fluid and may change before those target dates roll around but, that is the current game plan for now. Parents and students are encouraged to be patient as the details are worked out and also flexible, especially if the current plans don’t work out. There is also the very real possibility that students will start on the 17th but then, at some point, may need to return to online instruction during the course of the pandemic. Read more
