Local residents had the opportunity to explore the new amenities by the Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, take part in a book signing of “Marisol McDonald Doesn’t Match,” by local author Monica Brown and view a new mural depicting the region’s history during a ceremony to rename the former Sawmill Multicultural Art and Nature County Park to the “Elizabeth ‘Liz’ C. Archuleta County Park” in honor former District Supervisor Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Archuleta.
Sheltered from the often heavy monsoon rains under a large canopy, a crowd of more than 150 well-wishers gathered on Aug. 13 to hear speeches from members of the Coconino County Board of Supervisors, local officials, friends, and most movingly family members of Archuleta.
