
At the end of their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Board elected District 1 Supervisor Patrice Horstman as Chair of the Board and District 2 Supervisor Jeronimo Vasquez as Vice Chair of the Board.
The nominations were motioned by District 3 Supervisor Tammy Ontiveros, with a second from District 4 Supervisor and outgoing Chair Judy Begay.
“I would like to acknowledge the job Supervisor Begay has done for the county as Chair,” said Supervisor Horstman. “Under her leadership, the Board took on some big issues including finalizing our Mission, Vision, and Values statement and navigating the impacts of federal cuts and funding delays on County projects and programs We thank her so much for her time and service. As Chair, I look forward to continuing to address the needs of our residents.”
Incoming Chair Horstman was elected in 2020 and previously served as Chair from February 2022 through August 2023.
“I want to thank Supervisor Begay for her service as Chair and I look forward to working with Supervisor Horstman as we enter our budget hearings and face both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” said Supervisor Vasquez.
Incoming Vice Chair Vasquez was appointed in 2021 and previously served as Vice Chair from February 2022 through August 2023.
Supervisor Begay, who served her first term as Chair from June of 2024 to present, was first elected to the Board in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, after serving over 16 years as a school Board Member in Tuba City, as well as several other non-profit organizations. She also has experience in management and supervision of health programs, school administration, facilities management, roads and infrastructure, and public housing.
