Learn to make sweet treats for Mother’s Day. Celebrate all mothers and mother-figures by making a variety of delicious candies. And, yes, you can eat some, too! Join us at the Fort Tuthill County Park Mess Hall, May 12, 12:00-3:00 p.m. Register here!

Fort Tuthill Bike Park Construction

Thanks to sunny days and wind, the Fort Tuthill Bike Park is open for the season! The majority of features at the Bike Park are open, including the Tech Trails, Pump Tracks, Skills Area, Cyclocross, Bridges, Rock Obstacles, Drop Zone, Balance Rails, and Kid’s Pump Track. However, some features are under construction. The three flow trails and two of the skills area features are being repaired. The Green Flow Trail is also being re-shaped, in order to ensure its stability and longevity. We ask all volunteers to hold off on maintenance projects during construction for safety. We are working hard to open the closed features as soon as possible.

Volunteer orientation and registration will be Friday, May 10th, at the Bike Park from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

We remind the public that large, structural changes to the features have to be done by an official company, in order to ensure that the ratings match the signs and that the features are up to code.

Calling All Teachers!

Classroom and home school teachers: Did you know you can save your students’ work to submit as an exhibit at the Coconino County Fair? The Schools Building showcases the work of students from Coconino County, sharing their achievements with the approximately 40,000 visitors that attend the Fair. Any subject that can be visually displayed is welcome! If you have scientific dioramas, mathematical models, framed poems, language arts displays, maps, history recreations, civics and government presentations, cultural pieces, fine arts, crafts, or any other subject that may be displayed, we want to see them!

You and your students have worked hard. Let us celebrate you and provide a chance to win prizes. Don’t forget, it is free to submit an exhibit to the Schools Building.

Memorial Recognition Program

Coconino County Parks & Recreation is requesting public comment for proposed fees for a Memorial Recognition Program. The comment period is from May 1 through June 29, 2024. Please submit any comments online here.

Occasionally, Coconino County Parks & Recreation receives inquiries for memorial recognition requests to be placed in County-owned and -managed parks and natural areas. The Memorial Recognition Program guides memorial recognition design, placement, cost recovery, and memorial recognition longevity, while taking into consideration the department’s mission and its operations and maintenance obligations. For the purposes of this program, a memorial recognition consists of one bench that comes with one plaque. Please see the Program document and the Proposed Fee Schedule for more information, at our website.
