Take your stained-glass skills to the next level in this focused workshop designed for artists ready to build beyond the basics. This session explores the art of copper-foil overlays—an elegant way to add fine detail, surface dimension, texture, and depth to your glasswork. You’ll learn how to design, apply, and solder overlays with precision, and how to incorporate them into a new or existing piece for added visual impact. A nature-inspired panel or symbolic design works beautifully for this technique.
Corvids and Canines: Two types of Animal Portraits in Clay with Magda Gluszek January 17-18, 2026 Whether you enjoy their company in your home or appreciate their howling from a distance, animals are intertwined throughout our human existence. This workshop is designed to broaden your ability to tell their stories through learning to sculpt expressive and realistic animal features. Two types of animal portrait will be demonstrated: the Corvid (raven) and the canine (coyote/dog).
A solid construction technique will allow for flexibility to make corrections and changes as we build. Portrait heads will be created on a simple plumbing pipe armature. I will also demonstrate how to remove a sculpture from the armature and hollow it out, so that you can complete the hollowing process on your own.

A fun, beginner-friendly pottery class just for teens! Designed for ages 13–18, this hands-on course teaches the basics of wheel throwing — from centering clay to shaping bowls and mugs — in a relaxed, creative studio environment. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get messy.
You’ll learn essential techniques, explore surface decoration and glazing, and get plenty of time on the wheel through demos, guided practice, and open studio sessions. Small class sizes mean personalized help every step of the way.
Tuition includes your first bag of clay, glazes, firings, and weekly open studio access. Tools are provided, with optional kits available for purchase. ESA funds and scholarships are available.
Anatomy of the Horse with Shelly Hackett January 10-11, 2026
In this two-day workshop, we’ll explore the beauty and power of the horse—from initial study to a finished painting. We’ll begin with pencil sketches that focus on key connections of form, building an understanding of equine anatomy through the relationships of bone, muscle, and movement.
With this foundation, we’ll shift into paint. Starting with an abstract under-painting, we’ll block in light, shadow, and gesture before refining the piece with expressive, impressionistic brushwork. By the end, you’ll know how to recognize when a painting is complete and leave with a finished work that captures both your style and the spirit of the horse.

Essence of the Animal with Shelly Hackett January 20, 2026
Create a one-of-a-kind character portrait—capturing the true spirit of your horse, pet, or favorite wildlife subject. Working from a photo you bring or one provided, you’ll learn how to move beyond simply copying an image and instead express personality, mood, and essence. Shelly will guide you from quick pencil studies through transferring your image to canvas, building an underpainting, and adding expressive details. You’ll leave with a portrait full of life and individuality
Oil Painting Immersion with Patricia Saxton January 22–February 26, 2026 Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this 6-week class presents a great opportunity to explore the essentials of oil painting—from composition to color mixing, blending, glazing, and finishing—while building the confidence to experiment and shape your unique style; all with plenty of personalized guidance provided.
One of the beauties of painting with oils is its forgiving nature. A creamy consistency and slow drying time gives you the freedom to rework, refine, or even completely reimagine your work without pressure. With that in mind, you can choose to focus on a single painting throughout the class, or create several, letting each evolve between sessions. Exploring and Developing Glazes with John Post January 27–March 3, 2026 – Tuesdays, 1-4pm
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the creation and modification of ceramic glazes. Students will begin by learning how to read glaze recipes and accurately prepare liquid glaze batches. Building on this foundation, the course explores techniques for developing multiple glaze variations from a limited number of initial batches.

Are you looking for a way to keep track of quotes, anecdotes, ideas, or other observations that grab your attention? This may be just the class for you. We will explore the benefits and techniques of keeping a commonplace book, a note-taking practice with a long history among naturalists, artists, and writers. The commonplace approach provides a way to record whatever comes up in daily life that inspires curiosity and invites reflection and creativity. As the class progresses, we will work on our own commonplace books, share what we learn about ourselves and the world, and explore ideas that emerge for creative projects.
The Joy of Painting: A Bob Ross Class with DJones

In this fun, hands-on workshop, a Certified Ross Instructor will guide you step-by-step through creating your own landscape masterpiece using traditional Bob Ross wet-on-wet oil techniques. In this unique hand-building class, students will explore the fascinating world of historical pottery by re-imagining ancient forms and techniques through a contemporary lens. Students will choose an iconic historical pot or ceramic vessel and recreate it using modern materials and personal interpretation. This course blends traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, allowing students to learn from the past while creating something entirely their own.
