Discover Flagstaff publishes Flagstaff 365 Happenings on a weekly basis to highlight local events happening in and around Flagstaff. Flag Happs is distributed throughout Downtown Flagstaff, displayed in kiosks and storefronts, and also available at the Flagstaff Visitor Center. Below are some highlights of the week.

High Country Motor Lodge

Journey through the stars with cultural astronomer Dr. Danielle Adams for an evening of celestial storytelling and telescope viewing under the night sky.

As twilight deepens, you’ll experience the night sky through the lens of cultural astronomy as Dr. Adams reveals the rich histories behind well-known star names and showcases Arabian star names. You can also enjoy close-up telescopic views of Saturn and other celestial objects as the Milky Way rises.

Route 66: The Main Street

of America

The Orpheum Theater

A new centennial documentary, “Route 66: The Main Street of America,” comes to the Orpheum Theater, telling the stories of the towns and everyday heroes who’ve kept the Mother Road alive across 2,400 miles and 8 states for 100 years. From roadside attractions to revitalized main streets, the film captures communities still writing new chapters along the original path, a must-see for anyone who’s ever felt the pull of the open road.

Autumn Winds: Music in Motion

Ardrey Auditorium

Kick off the academic year with NAU’s Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony in a shared opening concert. The Symphonic Band features new Assistant Professor of Flute Dr. Troy Paolantonio on Spittal’s Prelude and Flight for Flute and Band, alongside Steve Danyew’s Pictures of Memory and works by Saint-Saëns and Hoshina. The Wind Symphony follows with the bold brass of John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare and the energy of Ryan George’s Firefly, featuring Professor of Bassoon Michelle Fletcher as soloist in Eric Ewazen’s Concerto for Bassoon, before closing with Viet Cuong’s vibrant John and Jim.
