The Flagstaff Festival of Science brings our community together each year to explore and celebrate discovery. This year, Coconino Center for the Arts is proud to host three events highlighting the connections between science, art, and storytelling.
On Thursday, September 25, join us for an afternoon and evening of hands-on learning, conversations, and performances. From building your own pinhole camera to exploring women’s contributions in STEAM and the Grand Canyon, there’s something for all ages and interests.

Coconino Center for the Arts is proud to launch the U.S. Route 66 Centennial Celebration with Route 66: Alternative Perspectives. Shades of Route 66: Celebrating Diversity along Arizona’s Historic Route 66 in the State of Arizona explores, documents, and share stories of the underrepresented voices of people and their communities who contributed to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic landscape along Route 66 through Arizona. The final product of the project, a digitally accessible “StoryMap” using ArcGIS, provides a well-rounded and inclusive history of Route 66’s planning, construction, and development using anthropological and decolonial lenses. Shades of Route 66 was produced and sponsored by Cline Library at Northern Arizona University and funded by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona. Coconino Center for the Arts is honored to serve as a satellite venue for the dissemination of this project, and to share the diverse history of Route 66 during its Centennial celebrations.
