FLAGSTAFF — Protesters marched down Humphrey Street (video) to the Flagstaff City Hall on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 to celebrate the ongoing removal of the City’s Flock surveillance cameras and to protest against ICE enforcement actions in Minneapolis, Minn. and other cities across the nation.
Nearly 200 protesters ended up waving signs, (video) shouting slogans and cheering at honking motorists (video) as part of the event. Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intensified during the past few weeks following the shooting deaths of ICE watchers Renee Nicole Good on Jan. 7 and Alex Pretti on Jan. 24.
The protest and related actions also added a few extra elements as dozens of local bicycle riders (video) rode through downtown Flagstaff (video) as part of the nationwide “Pedal for Pretti” memorial rides. Rides were held on Jan. 31 in Iowa City, Milwaukee, Portland, Ore., San Francisco and elsewhere.
Locally, organizers of the “We Ride in Unity — Ride Together, Stand Together” event at Wheeler Park stated in a social media post “This is not political. This is human rights. Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse, a kind person by all accounts. A cyclist. By all account he could have been any of us. His body language and actions on the day of his death tell only one story — that he was calm, peaceful, and a diligent citizen exercising his rights to a T. For everyone who has been affected, scared, angered, concerned, confused, devastated…join together in our community in Flagstaff, with the cycling community of Minnesota, and with the cycling community across the word to mourn Alex, Rene Good, and every victim of this horrific period of this period of our history….”

The second half of a group of cyclists on Birch Avenue cross Humphrey Street to join others at Wheeler Park near downtown Flagstaff.
Some Flagstaff protesters also sported red hats that have become popular in Minnesota during the ICE protests. The red hats were first used as a protest against NAZ occupation of Norway during WWII.

The anti-ICE and anti FLOCK surveillance camera system event began with a protest march starting from Humphrey Street and Cheery Avenue to the Flagstaff City Hall.
