Thanks to everyone who emailed the Mayor and City Council Members last week!
F3 is happy to report that on October 9 City Council unanimously chose to reject two Conditions of Approval that would have had negative impacts on the Core Priorities of the Regional Plan and render the Plan out of compliance with Flagstaff’s 2021 Carbon Neutrality Plan.
Your action in response to F3’s October 5th Action Alert resulted in the City receiving 80 letters of concern from the public about these two issues! Many thanks to NAZCCA and Dara Marks Marino for sending alerts to their contacts as well.
A contingent of the public was present at the October 9 meeting urging the Council to accept these harmful conditions. The number of letters you sent to Council urging the rejection of these same conditions were hugely influential.
This “sounding the alarm” was made possible because F3 has the resources to monitor actions that are coming before Council and, in this particular situation, also listen closely to many hours of Planning & Zoning Commission meetings as they reviewed the Regional Plan.
F3’s Executive Director has participated in technical and community Regional Plan committees over the last two years and fought for a Plan that aligns with Flagstaff’s Carbon Neutrality Plan, provides walkable neighborhoods, safe and expanded trails for everyone, attainable housing, retention of trees during development, and many other important issues that make Flagstaff a place where we want to live.
F3 has the resources to monitor city actions because of our dedicated membership whose modest monetary contributions are combined to allow for the full-time Executive Director and part-time Coordinator to gain the knowledge, advocate for Flagstaff’s future, attend City Commission meetings, meet with City staff and Council members, and communicate and educate our members.
If you know friends, family members or anyone who should be members of F3 but aren’t yet, we ask you to please consider giving them the gift of a membership (starting at $60 for a family).
The more members F3 has the more effective we can be in achieving our goals of a sustainable, just, and thriving Flagstaff. The Board is committed to raise our membership to 500 or more by the end of the year. Could you help us reach our goal?

Many thanks to our over 400 members! If you’re receiving this email and are not yet a member, please consider joining.
Sincerely,
Michele James
Executive Director
