The first speaker in F3’s new Community Speaker Series tales place this Thursday evening, September 4, with Norm from Strong Towns!
F3’s series focuses on bringing people to Flagstaff who will provide important ideas about how we can build a more resilient and engaged Flagstaff.
Our speaker series purposefully coincides with our community’s review of the Flagstaff Draft Regional Land Use Plan 2045. Public review of the Regional Plan started a month ago, and Public Hearings start on September 10th. In May 2026, Flagstaff residents will vote in a Special Election on whether to use the Plan as a guiding document for how we want the City of Flagstaff to address its five goals of Housing Affordability & Equity, Climate Action, a Healthy Economy, a Walkable, Mixed Use Community, and, Natural & Cultural Resources.
Strong Towns , a nonprofit organization, advocate for cities of all sizes to be safe, livable, and inviting, as well as financially strong and resilient. They support thousands of people in the U.S. and Canada to elevate local government to be the highest level of collaboration for people seeking to work together in a place. Their approach is a radically new way of thinking about the way we build our world.
F3’s mission and focus areas overlap with much of Strong Town’s mission including incremental housing, the need for “missing middle” housing, life-saving street design, productive streets, and activated public spaces.
Come with your questions as there will be a Q&A with the speaker after his presentation. The event is conducted live with the speaker on Zoom and we will upload a recording on our website.
I look forward to seeing you this Thursday at 6:00 at the East Flagstaff Public Library!
