Grand Canyon National Park Rescinds Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on South Rim
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. – Effective immediately, Grand Canyon National Park has rescinded Stage 2 fire restrictions on the South Rim. The restrictions were originally implemented due to limited water resources available for fire suppression. With water hauling operations continuing to supplement the South Rim’s water supply, the park is able to lift the additional restrictions.
Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect on the South Rim. Fire restrictions at Mather Campground have also been lifted; however, campfires are permitted only in established campfire rings. Visitors and residents are reminded to use caution and practice responsible fire use at all times.
Stage 4 water conservation measures remain in place on the South Rim. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water when visiting the park.
Stage 2 fire restrictions remain in effect on the North Rim for the remainder of the 2026 season.
For current fire restriction information, visit the park’s website.

Boil Water Notice Lifted for Desert View
Grand Canyon National Park has lifted the boil water notice for the Desert View area. Bacteriological samples collected from the Desert View water system have tested negative, and tap water is now safe to drink and use as normal.
Please remember that the park remains under Stage 4 water restrictions. Continue to conserve water and limit nonessential use to help keep supply available for everyone at Desert View.
