Schedule Changes

Have you, over the years, learned to set your watch to what you hear on Morning Edition?  For instance, if you know for a fact you can make it work in time by leaving the house right after “Star Date.”

Beginning Monday, this particular hack won’t work anymore. NPR is changing the way it organizes Morning Edition. This “format clock” dictates where the news, features and local breaks fall within the hour. Most of the changes are pretty subtle, but starting Monday “Star Date” will air a little later: at 6:43 and 8:43am. (We’re also adding a 4:43am broadcast.)
So next week, leave the house right after the news, listen to “Star Date” in the car and you’ll still get to work in plenty of time.
Grand Canyon Music Festival
Next week, KNAU begins a series of three broadcasts of music recorded last year at the Grand Canyon Music Festival, about to begin its 35th season.

Tuesday at 7, we’ll hear The Catalyst String quartet, flutist Clare Hoffman, and others.

In subsequent weeks, not just classical music but roots music from harmonica master Robert Bonfiglio and his group, the classical-fusion string quartet “Sweet Plantain,” plus selections from young composer/participants in the Native American Composer Apprentice Project that is part of the Canyon Festival. This year’s live concerts begin August 24th and continue for three weekends.

Our recorded broadcasts begin Tuesday August 14th on the stations of classical KNAU.
