FLAGSTAFF — Visitors to the Market of Dreams were greeted with music, flower-making workshops, games, face painting and a live performance in front of a colorful ofrenda / Altar at the inaugural Día de los Muertos Festival on Nov. 2, 2025.

Celebrated appropriately on All Souls Day, the event was presented by Chicanos por la Causa (CPLC).

A variety of other events celebrating Día de los Muertos were held in the region this past week. They included:

Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces President Lydia Anaya, right, and member Delia Munoz, brave a chilly night to send to the night sky prayer offerings collected from the Community ofrenda at the recent 22nd annual  Celebraciones de la Gente.

Members of Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces gather for the remembrance ceremony.

Coconino High School students and their families celebrated el Día de los Muertos with the fourth annual shoebox ofrenda competition on Nov. 3. Winners will be announced this weekend. See more photos next week.
