May 12 — City hosts public outreach events on 2024 Building and Fire Code adoption

FLAGSTAFF — The City of Flagstaff Planning & Development Services Division will host two public outreach events to discuss the upcoming adoption of the 2024 Building and Fire Codes. Community members, design professionals, contractors, developers, and property owners are encouraged to attend. These sessions provide an opportunity to learn about key updates in the 2024 codes and how they may shape future development, permitting processes, construction practices, and building safety throughout the community.

The events will take place:

  • Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Murdoch Community Center, 203 E. Brannen Ave., Flagstaff, AZ 86001
  • Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
City Hall Lobby, 211 W. Aspen Ave., Flagstaff, AZ 86001

The adoption of updated building and fire codes ensures that Flagstaff continues to meet modern standards for life safety, structural integrity, wildfire risk reduction, and energy efficiency. • Ask questions about how the new codes will shape upcoming projects and permits.
  • Learn about changes that enhance life safety, structural resilience, and fire protection.
  • Understand new provisions supporting energy efficiency, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
  • Explore how the updated codes may influence design flexibility, materials, and construction methods,
  • Provide feedback and engage directly with City staff involved in the adoption process,

City staff will be available to walk through significant code changes, explain local amendments specific to Flagstaff, and discuss how these updates align with the community’s goals for safety, innovation, and long-term resilience.
