	Remembering former NAU President Eugene Hughes, 1934-2021 Hughes was NAU’s 12th president and served in the role from July 1, 1979 to June 30, 1993; during his 14-year tenure, he made many contributions to the university, including the development of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management and the Southwest Center for Forestry Science Complex.
