CCC student adapts in challenging times

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Coconino Community College student Justin Eaton would attend his classes in person, something he enjoyed very much.

Now, he walks the dog, makes his coffee, eats some breakfast and strolls into his home office to go to school.

“It was a little bit of adapting, but it wasn’t hard,” Eaton said. “I do miss being in the classroom.”

The United Way of Northern Arizona (UWNA) recently awarded a total of $45,000 to Flagstaff Shelter Services and The Salvation Army, front line local responders dealing with the issue of providing shelter or keeping people in their homes.

KNAU eNews: Remembering Bill Withers, New COVID-19 Research Institute and more

Every once in a while, ponderosa pines turn out a lot more seeds than in an average year, as a hedge against obstacles that threaten their regeneration. Hurdles like high-severity fires – which deplete the soil of viable seeds – drastically hamper forest recovery. Learn more at KNAU.org.

Today’s bulletin will be a little different as we do a deeper dive on this one topic – what the PPP is supposed to do, the hurdles and hiccups it has faced in its first week, and how the government and financial institutions are responding.
