Mary Louis Brown

Originally from Pennsylvania, Mary discovered a passion for painting and drawing at an early age, often inspired by horses and fueled by leftover paint from childhood art sets. Her artistic path deepened in the 1970s through studies with Patricia Cochran, who introduced her to the techniques of the Old Masters and a new appreciation for light and color.

After relocating to the Grand Canyon in 1981, Mary worked as a mule guide and later operated Bright Angel Hair Design for 17 years. Despite a busy career, the canyon’s grandeur remained a constant inspiration in her art. In 1997, she returned to oil painting with Tom Darro and later completed plein air studies with Scott Jennings. Now living in Sedona, Mary is a member of the Arizona Plein Air Painters (serving on the board), the Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition, and El Valle Artists. Her award-winning work continues to celebrate the beauty of the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and the surrounding Southwest landscapes.

She has exhibited her artwork at venues like the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, Mesa Contemporary Art Museum, and the Burchfield Penney Art Center, NY. Art making has continued to be an integral part of her life, after a brief hiatus to create her family, Christine has begun teaching and exhibiting again.

Debra Goley

Practicing architecture in Washington D.C. for 15 years led to her solo artist career for the next 23 years. Her commissioned work speaks of how she is innately wired. Her abstract style pulls its strength from travel, architecture, and her faith. Familiar forms and use of strong bold colors convey tension and emotional yearning. As a multimedia artist, Debra’s work and teaching style clearly represent a global influence. With each new project her journey begins with research and analysis of a subject which takes her design from concept to expression. She has been awarded several scholarships for fiber art workshops that include Alegre, Gateway Co. In addition, she is currently an Art Educator at Trivium Prep Academy, Goodyear AZ, an instructor for Creative Aging and teaches art for adaptive needs and private students weekly. Her murals leave a mark on many Phoenix establishments including the Maricopa County Burn Unit Hospital, Phoenix AZ. Publications include 4 page spread in Art Quilting Studio, and SAQA. Illustrations include When the Bird Sings by K. Caraway and children’s books, Bee Kind: Just Bee Cause, and Bees Save the World by Justin and Jamie Clarke.

There is no other place she would rather be than the Southwest. She met her husband, Phillip in Blue Diamond, Nevada, and their first date was a moonlight hike.
