Produced during classes, workshops, and open studios, the show highlights the incredible range of talent emerging from SAC’s ceramics department — from striking sculptural forms to elegant dinnerware and functional pieces.

Join us for a special artist reception on Friday, September 19, 4–6 p.m., held in conjunction with Celebrate Sedona. The afternoon will include music, artist demonstrations, food, wine, and beer. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public, with complimentary parking available behind the Art Barn.

Whether you’re looking to add a one-of-a-kind piece to your home, shop for gifts, or simply enjoy an inspiring afternoon, this exhibition is a wonderful way to support student artists and SAC’s ceramics programming.

Featured Gallery Artists

Sedona Arts Center proudly represents more than 100 local and regional artists across a wide range of mediums — from painting, sculpture, and ceramics to photography, jewelry, and mixed media. Each month, we shine a special spotlight on a selection of artists whose work reflects the creative spirit of our community.

Below, discover the featured artists for September and October and learn more about their artistic journeys.

Myrna Harrison (1932–2025)

Myrna Harrison’s vibrant, color-saturated works capture the intensity and beauty of landscape — whether desert canyons, mountains, or seascapes. Her expressionist style brings together bold forms, dramatic contrasts, and a deep sense of place. Her paintings evoke not just how the landscape looks, but how it feels — the fierce sun, sweeping skies, rugged terrain.

Last fall, SAC partnered with the Sedona Heritage Museum to present “Myrna Harrison: Exhibition & Sale,” showcasing more than 30 artworks spanning her career. Now featured in our gallery shop with a special showing through September-October, her oeuvre offers a fresh look at the desert’s power and poetry.

Ian Kirkpatrick Hall

Flagstaff-born artist Ian Kirkpatrick Hall works primarily in wood and soda-fired ceramics, while also exploring lampworking, glass blowing, neon, and flat glasswork. Set to receive his Studio Art degree in ceramics from Northern Arizona University in Fall 2025, Hall has dedicated his studies to the interplay between glass and clay, as well as the kinetic and tactile potentials of ceramics.

His work challenges the traditional “no touching” policy of galleries, inviting viewers into deeper levels of experimentation and connection with the art itself. Recent achievements include receiving the 17th Annual Viola Award for Emerging Artist and serving as an educator at the 2025 Glass and Bead Show.

As a primary collaborator with his mother, artist Sonja London-Hall, Ian continues to push the limits of ceramic and glass art — creating innovative works that encourage interaction and exploration.

Kris Mills

Kris Mills received her B.A. in Fine Art from UC Davis and her M.F.A. from the University of New Mexico. Over the years, she has earned recognition including the Invitational Du Voyager Symposium Snow Sculpture Competition in Winnipeg, Fuzzy Logic at Southern Exposure in San Francisco, Seen and Unseen in Portales, NM, the Friends of Art Award, and the People’s Choice Award for The Roads to Chaos in Albuquerque.

Her residencies and fellowships include the Ansel Adams Center for Photography, Pasadena Art Center, and the prestigious Kohler Residency. Mills’ work has been exhibited widely across the U.S. and Europe — from Harwood Art Center, 516 Arts, Donkey Gallery, La Galerie 36, and Musée de l’Elysée — to unconventional spaces such as a motel installation in Albuquerque.

In addition to her own practice, Kris has shared her knowledge as an instructor at Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico. For 26 years, she collaborated with artist Joel-Peter Witkin on internationally exhibited photographs, further expanding her impact on the contemporary art world.

Our mission is to connect, enrich, educate and lead through the inspiring power of the arts and creative discovery.
