Whether you’re exploring something new or building on existing skills, you’ll learn from working artists in a supportive environment that values curiosity, craft, and creative joy — all in the heart of Sedona.
Southwest Landscape in Watercolor ONLINE with Tom Lynch February 14, 2026, Saturday, 10am-5pm (AZ Time)
Join a Master of Watercolor, as he shares with you his 50 years of experience. Tom has been listed as one of America’s top 20 teachers.
In the morning session, Tom will demonstrate parts of the finished painting in different ways , allowing time for you to paint under his watchful eye. There is a slide show to watch during lunch. Then in the afternoon session you will create a finished painting where you learn the principals for a ‘successful work of art’. A special feature for Tom’s classes is that he will offer you follow up suggestions via email up to 4-weeks after the class! This takes the pressure off having to paint quicklyor show your efforts in class. If you like Color,Contrast, Sunlight & Shadow then these workshops are just for you.
Horses in Motion with Shelly Hackett February 18, 2026 – Wed 10am–3pm
Using reference materials provided by the instructor, we will study the horse from a variety of perspectives—front, back, and three-quarter views—as well as explore the dynamics of different gaits, including the trot, canter, gallop, jumping, and bending.By examining equine anatomy, we will learn how to capture the horse in motion while maintaining accuracy of form. Through a series of exploratory sketches, students will develop their ideas and refine their work toward a finished composition.
Ultra-Textural Mixed Media Weaving on a Simple Loom with Vicki Assegued February 20 – 22, 2026 – Fri–Sun 10am–5pm
Learn a variety of stitches and techniques to create unique woven artworks using a simple loom provided for you. You’ll explore yarns, fabric, and optional embellishments like lace, ribbon, shells, and found objects to build textures and forms—from structured and symmetrical to loose and abstract—while also learning to make tassels, pompoms, and fringe. No experience is necessary, and by the end of class you’ll leave with finished weavings ready to hang, your reusable loom, and the skills to continue this relaxing and versatile art form at home.
Drawing II: The Next Level with Ed Buonvecchio February 23 – March 30, 2026 – Mondays 9am–12pm
“Drawing II: The Next Level” builds on the fundamentals of Drawing Level I and is ideal for students with basic experience or artists ready to jump in. In this six-week studio class, you’ll develop stronger skills and confidence through guided exercises that focus on drawing what you see and imagine, including still lifes, the human figure, landscapes, and linear perspective. Working with pencil, charcoal, ink, and brush, students will deepen their understanding of line, value, shape, and composition while building a confident, expressive drawing practice.
Next Steps in Stained Glass: Sculptural Stained Glass with Sonja London-Hall February 28 – March 1, 2026 – Sat–Sun 9am–4pm
Take your stained-glass skills beyond the basics in this exciting three-part workshop series focused on bringing glass into the third dimension. Students will design and construct a freeform or dimensional wall piece with a sculptural or whimsical twist, learning how to integrate wire, bevels, glass nuggets, and found objects while exploring structural techniques for strength, balance, and creative assembly. Each session introduces specialized approaches that expand both technical skill and creative expression for glass artists ready to grow.
Big Effects ONLINE: Pastel and Mixed Media with Jude Valentine March 4 – 25, 2026, Wednesdays, 1-3pm (AZ Time)
Create a portfolio of mixed media ideas by experimenting with combining pastel with acrylic, watercolor or gouache. We’ll use various approaches and media to discover visually interesting textures and applications. Each week we’ll explore a new combination to produce stunning effects. Students will use supplied sketches to map our their paintings and we’ll work in class on application of color effects.
Expressions in Gouche with Lili Anne Laurin March 5, 2026 – Thursday, 9am–4pm
This workshop will focus on enhancing the artists’ knowledge and landscape painting skills in designer gouache. Deepen your understanding of the medium, from its unique properties to essential tools including supports, brushes, and mediums. We will explore key aspects of compositions and color strategies to harness the full potential of gouache.
Instructor demos will help you grasp the techniques behind crafting vibrant, engaging paintings. Whether working from photo references or your own inspiration, you will receive personalized guidance to build confidence in using gouache outdoors or in your studio practice.
iPhoneography Crash Course
Online AND In-Person with Kelli Klymenko March 6, 2026, Friday, 9am-2pm
In today’s digital age, your iPhone can be more than just a phone — it’s a camera, an editing studio, and a powerful creative tool. Join photographer and artist Kelli Klymenko for a one-day workshop designed for both beginners and advanced users.
Learn how to turn everyday moments into striking works of art with nothing more than your iPhone. This hands-on class covers breathtaking landscapes, expressive portraits, and up-close macro photography — plus the editing apps and techniques that will take your images to the next level.
Painting Wildlife Textures with Pamela Haunschild March 7 – 8, 2026 – Sat-Sun, 9:30am–4pm
In this workshop, we will focus on wildlife as a painting subject. We will be using a lot of texturing techniques in both the animals themselves and the setting you might find them in. Texture makes your paintings feel more dynamic, creates a sense of depth, and helps viewers emotionally connect with your work. It is also a creative and relatively easy way to paint fur, feathers, and backgrounds without having to paint every detail … the textures do a lot of the work for you, as well as creating lots of interest.
You can work in the watermedia of your choice (acrylic, watercolor, acrylic ink, or gouache). We will create textures using texturing mediums along with some ordinary household materials (all texturing materials and applicators are provided).
Canyon Color for the Painter: A Plein Air Workshop with Carol Douglas March 9 – 13, 2026
Transform your plein air painting skills in this unique week-long oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor workshop. You’ll focus on color from every angle and apply advanced color concepts to your work. Color theory is not just a collection of good ideas; it’s the cornerstone of your toolbox. Using practical lessons and exercises, you’ll take what you’ve learned about color and use it to enhance your artistic vision.
Rebel Bloom with Jesse Petersen March 16 – 18, 2026
Rebel Bloom is a mixed-media workshop focused on bold, high-contrast art making. We’ll create and cut our own collage papers, warm up with loose floral sketches, and then pull it all together with mixed media techniques to build a handmade zine that captures your own story of growth.
You’ll design and illustrate your zine using simple construction methods and guided prompts. After we photocopy your master copy, we’ll break the rules a bit—adding color, texture, or a quick paint flick—so every zine has its own spark. Then we’ll trade zines so everyone leaves with a shared collection of work from the group.
Scholarships are an important part of Sedona Arts Center. It has a long history in providing students in need of financial assistance, the ability to hone their skills and creative talents. Art classes and workshops also allow an emotional break from daily life and offer social interaction with fellow lovers of art. We are proud to offer our scholarship program, with the help of The Kling Family Foundation, The Ceramics Scholarship Fund, and the Debbie Winslow Scholarship Fund, which allow us to continue this long standing opportunity.
