Just for Kids – Watercolor and Ink Too! with Rayna Griffin

Kids will learn and have fun exploring the many techniques of watercolors and ink to create their own unique paintings.
Six-week courses focus on developing, strengthening and advancing one’s skills in this down-to-earth medium. Tuition includes one 25 lb. bag of clay, and students can also attend one Open Studio session per week. Come play in the mud this summer!
Gretchen Lopez offers one-day classes on the Sedona Arts Center campus from 10 am – 4:30. Each themed class meets on a Friday with demonstrations and lots of individual attention for each student. These classes are for all levels of experience.
Online learning is perfect for students who are interested in taking one of our classes or workshops, but are unable to travel or would rather paint from the comfort of their own homes or studios. Students should have Zoom installed in their devices to participate in online classes and workshops.

Painting Sunsets: Online Class with Gretchen Lopez Friday, 6/23
The fleeting color of a sunset is hard to capture, but in this online course, Gretchen will show you how to look for and simplify the shapes of the sky, as the sun sets.
Watercolor Secrets Revealed with Tom Lynch Wed & Thurs, Aug 2 – 3
Learn how to paint mountains, fields, trees, rocks, skies, clouds and more. Tom will demonstrate each part on separate sheets of paper, then allow you time to work under his watchful eye, practicing a variety of watercolor techniques on loose sheets of 140# watercolor paper. In the second session you will put all the parts together in a new effort and have a completed painting at the end of the day.
Abstract Figurative Online Workshop with Robert Burridge Friday – Sunday, Sep 29 – Oct 1 This workshop pushes you out of your safe zone and into a brand new, looser, abstract direction drawing and painting the contemporary nude. If you ever wanted to learn how to paint the freestyle abstract figure, this workshop is for you!

NEWLY LISTED SEPTEMBER WORKSHOP OFFERING: Fallen Leaves & Silver Aspens with April Bower Tues – Wed, Sep 26 – 27 Come celebrate the beginning of the autumn season! Using a combination of reactive chemicals, heat, dyes, adhesives & metal leafing, students create on copper sheet, then mount on wood cradle boards for finished wall art pieces.
A Sense of Place Workshopwith Diane Williams & Chuck Potter Fri – Sun, Aug 18 – 20
Whether a world traveler or a homebody, a sense of place naturally finds its way into our painting. In this 3-day workshop we will examine the concept of “place” by painting the essence of landscape-both internal and external.
