Supervisors appointed to National Association of Counties leadership positions

COCONINO COUNTY — Several members of the Coconino County Board of Supervisors were appointed to leadership positions at the annual National Association of Counties (NACo) Conference. These appointments allow Coconino County to have a lead role in developing the American County Platform and resolutions designed to influence federal policy at the national level. 

The appointments include:

 

District 1 Supervisor Patrice Horstman, Chair of the Board

·         Public Lands Policy Steering Committee, Vice Chair

·         Resilient Counties Innovation Council, Vice Chair

 

District 2 Supervisor Jeronimo Vasquez, Vice-Chair of the Board

·         Transportation Steering Committee, Vice Chair

 

District 5 Supervisor Lena Fowler

·         NACo Board of Directors, At-large Member

·         Rural Action Caucus, Vice Chair

·         Telecommunications and Technology Policy Steering Committee, Vice Chair

In addition, NACo adopted the County’s three submitted policy resolutions endorsing the County’s $2.1 billion request for Great American Outdoors Act funding to rebuild, reimagine and restore Grand Canyon National Park and Kaibab National Forest following the destructive Dragon Bravo and White Sage Fires of 2025. NACo also adopted resolutions supporting the inclusion of woody biomass from federal forests in renewable fuel standards and continued funding for forest restoration and post-wildfire flood‑mitigation efforts.
