One of Canada’s finest artists, Bruce Cockburn has enjoyed an illustrious career shaped by politics, spirituality, and musical diversity. The Ottawa-born artist remains deeply respected for his activism on issues from native rights and land mines to the environment and Third World debt, working for organizations such as Oxfam, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and Friends of the Earth.

David Huckfelt is a singer/ lyricist /activist and founding frontman of Minneapolis indie-folk cult favorites “The Pines”. With improvisational mastery, Huckfelt’s shows and songs have earned him a devoted following from small-town opera houses & theaters to national festival stages.

Over the course of his thirty-year career, Nolan McKelvey has covered nearly every corner of the country and traversed all roads of Americana. From the pavement of alt-country, to the dusty trails of bluegrass, to the gravel roads of classic-country, to the interstate highway of rock-n-roll.

Joining him for this intimate performance is Jesse Valenzuela, founding member of Gin Blossoms. For more than three decades, Jesse has provided the multi-platinum group with hit songs (“Til I Hear It From You,” “Follow You Down,” “Mrs. Rita”), masterful guitar playing and exquisite harmony singing.

NightVisions: AMBER is an international juried art exhibition that seeks to explore and celebrate our deep connections with the night. In its 9th iteration for 2026, this long-standing collaboration between Coconino Center for the Arts and the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition celebrates the 25th anniversary of Flagstaff’s designation as the world’s first International Dark Sky City. This special anniversary-year exhibition expands upon the established NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky concept with a focused thematic exploration of amber lighting, aligning with the critical role that amber spectrum lighting plays in Flagstaff’s dark-sky conservation.

A graduate of Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, his instrumental “Time Is Not What You Think It Is” was awarded 1st place in the 2024 American Songwriter Song Contest and his original compositions have received numerous film and TV placements, including shows on E!, Lifetime, and ABC Family/Freeform.

FORE! Miniature Golf at Coconino Center for the Arts

FORE! is a miniature golf art installation exhibition and fundraiser to support exhibitions and programming at CCA. CCA’s 4,000 square foot gallery will turn into a 9-hole miniature golf course, with each green uniquely designed by an Arizona artist or local community group!

Coconino Center for the Arts — Creative Flagstaff has been awarded the National Endowment for the Arts’ Our Town Grant

We’re delighted to announce that Creative Flagstaff has been awarded the competitiveNational Endowment for the Arts’OurTown Grant to support urban and rural engagement in multidisciplinary arts programming throughout Coconino County, Arizona, which will provide arts access to diverse communities through creative placemaking. This partnership between Coconino Center for the Arts and Coconino County will provide leadership to broaden arts and cultural programming to reach urban and rural communities county-wide, through:

Flagstaff Festival of Science at CCA!

The Flagstaff Festival of Science brings our community together each year to explore and celebrate discovery. This year, Coconino Center for the Arts is proud to host three events highlighting the connections between science, art, and storytelling.

On Thursday, September 25, join us for an afternoon and evening of hands-on learning, conversations, and performances. From building your own pinhole camera to exploring women’s contributions in STEAM and the Grand Canyon, there’s something for all ages and interests.

Coconino Center for the Arts — FORE! 2026 Call for Artists

FORE! returns to Coconino Center for the Arts in January 2026, and we’re inviting artists and community organizations to design sculptural art greens for this miniature golf installation and benefit supporting CCA exhibitions and programming.

Selected participants receive a $500 honorarium, turf, and a hole cup to create a safe, durable, and imaginative par 3–4 green (3–9 yards from tee to cup) that can be easily assembled in the gallery. Designs should be creative and functional.

Creative Flagstaff is thrilled to announce that ARTx: Art + Ideas Experience is back for 2026 — and we’re once again offering funding to bring bold, creative ideas to life in Flagstaff! Thanks to $125,000 from the City of Flagstaff’s Bed, Board, and Beverage tax revenue, this marks the 4th year of funding for artists through ARTx.

The 2026 biennial event will light up Flagstaff May 1–3, 2026 with a multi-day celebration of performances, exhibitions, installations, activations, conversations, and community gatherings — plus additional ARTx moments all year long during First Friday ArtWalks.

We’re looking for individual artists, creative collaborations, and organizations ready to dream big. Whether your work thrives on the street, in a gallery, outdoors, or in unexpected places, ARTx has a space for you.

Coconino Center for the Arts — Route 66: On The Road Free Youth Workshop – This Saturday!

Join us for a free youth art workshop led by artist and instructor Erika Tsouras: On The Road: Using Perspective to Draw a Realistic Road Scene! In this hands-on session, young artists will learn the basics of one-point perspective to create dynamic and realistic road scenes inspired by Route 66. Erika will guide students step-by-step through drawing techniques that bring depth and dimension to their artwork.

This is a free one-hour workshop and no experience is necessary! All supplies are provided.

Coconino Center for the Arts invites the community to hit the open road—without leaving town—for Route 66 Diner Theater, a one-night-only benefit for CCA’s exhibitions and programs. This dynamic evening blends the tastes, sounds, and stories of America’s most iconic highway into an unforgettable experience.

The ticket price includes appetizers and dinner by Sosta, (2) drink tickets, theatrical performance, and three unique musical experiences, weaving together a rich tapestry of sound and storytelling within Coconino Center for the Arts’ current exhibition.

Coconino Center for the Arts presenting SHIFTING TOPOGRAPHIES: Extracting the Landscape through Dec. 20

SHIFTING TOPOGRAPHIES: Extracting the Landscape features projects by Carol Hartman (Red Lodge, MT), Jeff Schmuki (Stateboro, GA), and Klee Benally in memoriam (Diné, Black Mesa, Navajo Nation; Flagstaff, AZ). In a rapidly changing climate, we are witness to and complicit in irreversible scarring of the land. There are eight National Parks and Monuments within a 2-hour drive of Flagstaff that face potential threats to their preservation, due to the proposed federal reopening of protected sacred lands to mining. This timely and relevant exhibition theme—extraction—takes on a markedly different approach depending on the geographical and cultural perspectives of the represented artists.

The annual Youth Arts exhibition showcases local youth artists in Coconino County and the regional community, exhibiting their recent artwork at Coconino Center for the Arts. The exhibition is open to and inclusive of all artwork submissions by youth artists (pre-K to 12th grade, living in Coconino or Navajo counties) that reflect the theme Color Outside the Lines. Our objective is to engage youth audiences throughout Northern Arizona and support a wide range of art disciplines. This exhibition is non-juried and all submissions were accepted.

FLAGSTAFF — Coconino Center for the Arts will present Chilean artist Francisco Gonzalez Castro’s exhibition “Bodies, Limits, and Transgressions” through June. 8.

Coconino County Center for the Arts presenting NAU’s Robert Neustadt’s talk ‘Re-weaving the Social Fabric: Artisans Beyond Borders’ in-person, via Zoom on Nov. 17

Robert Neustadt, of NAU’s Latin American Studies, will present the in-person and virtual Zoom talk: “Re-weaving the Social Fabric: Artisans Beyond Borders” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 as part of the Coconino County Center for the Arts’ exhibit “25 Million Stitches: One Stitch, One Refugee.”

Neustadt will tie together instances of art about textiles and refugees, including Valarie James’ ‘Artisans Beyond Borders’ and Jennifer Kim Sohn’s ‘25 Million Stitches.’
