Coconino County Health and Human Services receives award from Arizona Community Foundation/Flagstaff for Community Care Kits

FLAGSTAFF — Congratulations to Coconino County Health and Human Services who received $7,900 at the Arizona Community Foundation/Flagstaff awards ceremony to provide Community Care Kits.

The kits are backpacks filled with essential person hygiene items that help reduce stress by meeting personal care needs and provide an opportunity for HHS to connect individuals with community resources.

Coconino County health officials recommend taking preventative measures to prevent measles

COCONINO COUNTY — Measles is a highly contagious viral illness spread through the air by respiratory droplets produced from coughing or sneezing. The illness has seen a resurgence in the United States.

As of June 24, 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported a total of 1,227 confirmed measles cases in 37 jurisdictions, including Arizona, where four confirmed cases of measles were identified in Navajo County last month.

There are currently no confirmed cases of measles in Coconino County, however suspect cases have been identified and have been ruled out through further laboratory testing. Most recently, a suspect case was identified in the Page area. The individual has returned to their place of residence and local health officials continue to monitor the case.   

Coconino County Health and Human Services Receives Grant to Help Prevent Housing Insecurity

The goal of the Preventing Housing Insecurity Flexible Funds grant is to further the reach of existing prevention efforts by providing flexible funding that helps expand the effectiveness of current housing stability and homelessness prevention approaches.

CCHHS Issues Warning on Unlicensed Food Vendors

COCONINO COUNTY — Coconino County Health and Human Services Environmental Health has noted an increase in unlicensed food vendors throughout the County. These vendors pose a high risk of serious foodborne illness due to unsanitary conditions and should be avoided.

Coconino County Health and Human Services Ready to Respond to Monkeypox

Coconino County Health and Human Services (CCHHS), in partnership with state and federal partners, is responding to the recent increase in monkeypox illness in the United States. Although no cases have been identified in Coconino County, 102 monkeypox cases have been reported in Arizona as of August 5, 2022, and more than 7,000 cases have been identified in 49 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC).
