Mark your calendars! On March 6, 2025, Flagstaff STEM City will host the annual STEMMY Awards Ceremony at the Coconino Center for the Arts to honor the outstanding students, educators, businesses, and organizations leading the way in STEM innovation.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Amanda Bosh, Executive Director of Lowell Observatory, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Bosh brings a wealth of experience in planetary science and education, making this an event you won’t want to miss!

The CocoNuts Robotics Team from Coconino High School, the 2024 HALL OF FAME TEAM from the FIRST World Championships, needs your help to recruit judges for our upcoming FIRST Robotics Tournaments.
Every year, the CocoNuts run, sponsor and support over 15 robotics tournaments for thousands of students across the state. Additionally, the CocoNuts were named the 2024 STEM City Community Partner of the Year because of our tireless efforts to bring STEM to Flagstaff and Northern Arizona, including the RezBotics initiative, which has resulted in over 20 new robotics teams on the Navajo Nation!

Flagstaff STEM City invites everyone to join in this FREE celebration of knowledge, innovation, and community collaboration featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibits.
The STEM Celebration offers Flagstaff residents a chance to explore the dynamic world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This day will be full of hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, and insightful conversations. At this event, attendees should expect to be introduced to STEM as potential for educational opportunities and viable career paths.

To me, the excitement around STEM is the potential for discovery, new fields of study and applications that make people’s lives better – both in the day-to-day and in the grander scheme of human exploration and endeavor.
Inspired by my fascination with STEM, I earned my degree in agriculture and plant science from the University of Arizona. I later went on to start my education career and taught 7th grade biology in Yuma and I’ve been working in education for the past 20 years.
The 9th Annual Community STEM Celebration is an opportunity for the greater Flagstaff region
to engage with the STEM community– K-12, college and university educational institutions, businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and others.
Hands-on activities, demonstrations and conversations excite participants, expose the community to STEM educational and career opportunities in Flagstaff and celebrate Flagstaff’s designation as “America’s First STEM Community”
STEM City is now accepting nominations for the 2021 STEMmy awards, an annual award given to organizations and individuals who are STEAM leaders in the greater Flagstaff community. The deadline is April 23, 2021 and nomination forms for each of the categories are available below.
