Honoring Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy

On Monday, the NAU community honored the legacy left by civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a breakfast, poster-making session and commemorative march, sponsored by several different campus departments and clubs. Participants also took part in several service projects, including making sandwiches, doing community cleanup and working with the Coconino County Bookmobile.

Study: Managed fires restore forests, reduce wildfire risks

In remote wilderness areas, where chainsaws and heavy machinery can’t go, fire may become the tool of choice. Research from the Ecological Restoration Institute shows managed wildfires can help restore forest health and lower the risk of future severe fires.
