Celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander heritage

Join the NAU community in celebrating API Heritage Month! Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is typically celebrated in May to commemorate the achievements and contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the United States. However, in order to students a chance to participate, NAU celebrates API Heritage Month during the month of April. Learn about different cultures, try new foods and enjoy traditional dances and songs. Join the festivities, gain a cultural understanding and show your support for the vibrant API community!

Protecting planets from Earth’s microbes

NAU scientists found a way to spot microbes before they hitch a ride on a spaceship and contaminate other planets. Now NASA can make sure their spaceships are free of any unwanted Earth matter before launch, preventing spread to other planets.

The Living Library: A virtual journey to understanding and empathy

The Living Library is not your typical library. Instead of books, you get to read people! The “books” share their life stories with you. Numerous NAU libraries, colleges and organizations collaborate to create these events to promote empathy, reduce bias and increase awareness about health care disparities. The events are safe spaces where people can share their experiences of discrimination in health care and where “readers” can learn more about an empathetic healthcare future; get ready to learn something new!
