Creating inclusive spaces: policing and education at NAU

Luis A. Fernandez, professor and chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, is also the Hispanic-Serving Institution Advisor to the Provost at NAU currently researching the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement on policing and how to create a more balanced approach to community safety while working to support Latinx students and increase their access to education. Fernandez aims to create inclusive spaces that promote safety, inclusivity and opportunity for all students.

Researchers take deeper look into E. coli

The findings of this new study, which was led by former NAU researchers Lance Price and Cindy Liu and co-authored by Regent’s professor Paul Keim, could lead to better ways to prevent urinary tract infections. E. coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections, causing upwards of 85 percent of cases each year.

Indigenous Youth Media Workshop accepting applications

Calling all young aspiring filmmakers, photographers and journalists in grades 8-12 for the Andy Harvey workshop. Students will get hands-on experience in digital storytelling and produce their own news broadcast. Tuition is only $50 and full scholarships are available—applications close on April 17.
