The NAU Review — NAU welcomes Flinn Scholar Michael-Anthony Rodriguez to Class of 2027

Freshman Michael-Anthony Rodriguez might be a biology teacher. That’s his game plan for now, at least—he’s passionate about education and ensuring students from rural areas have access to the educational experiences that will help them succeed. But he’s at NAU to learn who he is as well, and the prestigious Flinn Scholarship will help him get there.

Every year at NAU’s first football home game, freshmen take the field. Decked out in their blue and gold, take a look at the Class of 2027 runners, led by NAU President Cruz Rivera.

Introducing a new series in The NAU Review, we hope to highlight the many students studying abroad as part of NAU’s Education Abroad Programs and Interdiciplinary Global Programs. This week’s feature: Elementary education major Breanna Manning-Romero, who studied in Granada and filled her free time abroad with flamenco shows, late-night tapas with friends from throughout the world and travels to nearby countries (and continents). The Climate Project, organized by Peter Friederici and Gioia Woods, is open to the public and coming to NAU. This interdisciplinary project will address different aspects of the climate crisis.

Students in NAU’s Human Anatomy course routinely work with donor bodies in preparation for a career in health care—the experience is not one the students take lightly. To honor their donors, each OT student creates a work of art at the end of the semester. Read more about two students’ art.
