Greetings,
The road stretches wide.
The laughter is warming up.
And the full company of Route 66 to the Grand Canyon has officially taken shape.
Commissioned to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Route 66, this world premiere production is a fast paced, family friendly comedy that brings the Mother Road to life through zany humor, audience interaction, and heartfelt storytelling. It is infused with the legendary spirit of Northern Arizona.
This intimate and imaginative journey features three unforgettable characters. Mother Road, the mystical embodiment of Route 66 itself, is portrayed by Becki Zaritsky and Melanie Santana-Propper. Ruth, a stranded traveler searching for her next turn, is played by Hannah Johnson and Nicole Brandon. James, a tow truck mechanic with a story of his own, is brought to life by AJ Maniglia and Ivan Villalpando.
Together, these artists anchor a farcical and magical adventure inspired by the British tradition of end-of-the-pier shows, where laughter, local lore, and discovery collide. With only three characters and endless possibilities, the road itself becomes a living, breathing presence onstage.
It is not just a play you watch.
It is a journey you take, mile by mile.
