This will be the first playground in the City of Flagstaff with a unitary surface (rubberized) that allows for easy transition from sidewalk to play areas, eliminating any drop-off from surface to surface, supporting those who use wheeled mobility devices. The new adaptive playground equipment and surfacing will replace a 21 year-old play structure. The project budget is $168,000 from the FY2017 Bed-Board-Beverage (BBB) Recreation fund.
During the installation of the new playground equipment this area will be temporarily closed for a minimum of six weeks. The closed playground area equipment is recommended for ages 5-12. The 2-5 year old equipment will be open, as well as the rest of the park. Recommendations of other Parks with playground equipment for ages 5-12 are the following:
- Old Town Springs, 913 W. Lower Coconino (closest to Thorpe Park)
- Foxglenn Park, 4200 E. Butler Ave
- Bushmaster Park, 3150 Alta Vista.
