United Way of Northern Arizona — Join Us in Narrowing the SNAP Gap

The latest news from UWNA. View as Webpage

When federal SNAP benefits lapsed this month due to the government shutdown, tens of thousands of northern Arizonans faced uncertainty about how they would feed their families.

While legal challenges may eventually restore those funds, delays mean too many children and families are going hungry today.

Once again, our community is showing its heart. Restaurants are donating food. Businesses and government entities are organizing food drives. And individuals across the region are stepping up in countless ways to make sure families have what they need.

From the desk of:

At United Way of Northern Arizona, we’re joining this incredible community response by directing $50,000 in emergency funding from our Crisis Response Fund and reserve resources to address food insecurity throughout our region.

Here’s how these funds will help address this crisis:

  • Bolstering food banks like the Flagstaff Family Food Center and others throughout northern Arizona, helping them purchase proteins and other essentials that are in short supply.
  • Providing food gift cards to Flagstaff Unified School District for families in need.

We know these efforts will not erase the gap — but they will narrow it. And together, with your help, we can do even more.

We invite you to answer the call and make sure no family in Northern Arizona has to go hungry. Every dollar raised puts food on the table for those most in need in our community.
