A Note from Supervisor Archuleta
Greetings District 2 Residents,
I know we are living in unprecedented times right now. Each and every day is different, but we are all continuing to adapt to our current situation the best we can. I want to reassure you that Coconino County is working tirelessly on your behalf to ensure the health and safety of our community.
I also want to remind you all that as we adjust to our current situation, it is important to continue to care for your mental health during this time. Across the world, there has been an increase in mental health issues due to isolation, distress, and worry around the COVID-19 Pandemic. You can read the CDC’s recommendations for caring for your mental health during this time by clicking here. At the bottom of this newsletter, you will find resources and activities to help you cope during this time. Remember, your mental health is equally as important as your physical health during this time.
I know that these past few weeks have been difficult to say the least. I want to remind you that we as a community are STRONG, POWERFUL, and RESILIENT. We have faced many difficulties together. I know we will persevere through this one. We are all in this together, and I am proud to advocate for you all as we get through this together!
In Community,
Liz Archuleta, Chair
Board of Supervisors, District 2
COVID-19 Daily Dashboard
As of April 8, 2020
These figures are updated and shared each evening between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm on the County’s Facebook and Website. You can access these figures on the website by clicking here. We will continue sharing these figures in our daily newsletter, but please note that the data is from the evening before.
Here is the information as of 04/08/2020:
Flagstaff City Parks & Amenities Closed
Effective April 8, 2020, park spaces and amenities at City parks will be closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The city recognizes the importance of these outdoor amenities; however, the safety of the public, staff and the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 are the highest priority.
The following parks and City amenities will be closed until further notice:
  • Dog parks – two in total located at Thorpe Park and Bushmaster Park
  • Tennis Courts – 17 courts in total
  • Skate Parks – two in total located at Bushmaster Park and Foxglenn Park
  • BMX Park – one in total located in Sunnyside along Izabel Street
At this time, disc golf courses will remain open as well as baseball and softball fields. Trails and grass areas remain open for walking, hiking, biking and other outdoor recreation that can be done with responsible social and physical distancing.
Coconino County Residents Count:
Don’t forget to fill out the 2020 Census!
As of Tuesday, April 7, more than 45% of all home across the county have responded to the 2020 Census!
Beginning April 8th, all households who have not responded to the Census will begin receiving paper questionnaires in the mail. Please keep in mind, mailings from the Census Bureau will not be addressed directly to you or anyone at your household. Instead, it will be addressed to “RESIDENT AT” and will include the Census Bureau seal.
By filling out the census, you are ensuring that our community is counted and can receive the necessary resources we need to keep our community safe, healthy, and thriving!
Other important things to keep in mind:
  • Count everyone who is living in your house on 04/01/20 on your census form
  • The census DOES NOT ask about citizenship
  • All information collected is required BY LAW to be kept confidential
  • Make sure to include children and babies when filling out your census
  • EVERYONE COUNTS!
Quote of the Day
“Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. That’s its balance.” – Osho
