Dear Stakeholder:

It has been a busy few weeks for the Creative Flagstaff team. We are so excited to share with you all of our news if you haven’t had a chance to catch up via social media.

First off, congratulations to all of the Viola Awards finalists and winners. We are so glad that we were able to safely gather again.

We have a lot of news to share including upcoming volunteer opportunities, updates on the proposed Digital Resource & Education Center, the winner of PitchNight Arizona, an upcoming community meeting, and more.

13th Annual Viola Awards Recap – Congratulations Winners!

This year’s winners include, the book Man in the Dog Park: Coming Up Close to Homelessness, Parched: The Art of Water in the Southwest, Revelucien, Tow’rs for The Holly & the Ivy, educator Melinda McKinney, filmmaker Nick Gieb, Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival, and Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra’s The Nutcracker.

Board Member Jamey Hasapis leading the Paddle Raise

$21,000 raised in historic paddle raise at Viola Awards

With fanfare, Creative Flagstaff Board Member, Jamey Hasapis, introduced the proposed Digital Resource & Education Center at this year’s Viola Awards as part of the evening’s paddle raise. A historic $21,000 was raised from 80 donors.

Combined with $15,000 allocated from the Thoma Foundation Digital Changemaker Grant, $36,000 has been raised to support the launch of the center. At least $14,000 more is needed to begin construction. Please consider donating by clicking below.

Michelle Meyer wins Pitch Night 2021

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021 for Pitch Night Arizona, 5 Arizona artists gave their “pitches” for a $15,000 grant to take their concept to ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, MI. This was the third iteration of Pitch Night hosted by ArtWins Arizona and the first year the event was co-hosted by Creative Flagstaff.

Community Meeting

Join us on August 4 for a community meeting about the inaugural Dark Sky Arts & Ideas Festival.

To provide socially distanced options for attendees, we are requesting RSVPs.

CCA Volunteer Day

Join us at Coconino Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 24th for Volunteer Day! From 10am to 3pm we will have a variety of tasks that require volunteer assistance including organizing, cleaning, painting, and more. A pizza lunch will be provided.
